The SC State Bulldogs will take a trip even further south to visit the USF Bulls this weekend. Both teams have been surprisingly successful to start the season, with SC State notching a couple of wins to sandwich a blowout loss to South Carolina. Meanwhile, the Bulls have had one of the best starts to a season in program history, knocking off Boise State and Florida in consecutive weeks, both of whom were ranked opponents. A loss to Miami was an expected bump in the road, but USF should get back on track here.

The highlight of SC State's season has been its passing attack. Quarterback Ryan Stubblefield has been a pleasant surprise, posting 500 passing yards and three touchdowns without a turnover. He has had to make up for a running game that has struggled mightily to start the season, with lead back KZ Adams averaging less than four yards per carry through three contests. The entire offense will need to find ways to click to keep up with a solid, varied USF attack.

Historically, USF relies on a run-heavy approach on offense, utilizing dual-threat quarterbacks to create the most possible confusion on the ground. Current starter Byrum Brown has proven that he can play that part of the game while also providing a fantastic arm in the pocket. Brown has not gotten his receivers into the end zone too often, but he has 747 yards in three games to go along with 111 rushing yards. Those stats, along with an opportunistic defense led by cornerback James Chenault's two interceptions, have spearheaded USF's successful start to the season.

SC State vs USF Prediction and Pick

Ricky McKenzie of Picks and Parlays writes, "South Florida's athleticism and home-field edge should be enough to overcome any early nerves or hangover from last week. Expect the defense to settle in and make key stops while the offense finds balance against a leaky front. Final Score Prediction, South Florida Bulls win 38-24."

It is fair to expect the Bulldogs to struggle on offense. A one-dimensional approach is rarely the answer to a defense that has the edge in athleticism and quality of player, so SC State's struggles in the run game will make life extremely difficult for the whole team. That makes the under the best pick on the board, as it is unlikely that USF is able to contribute the points necessary to account for SC State's inability to score.
