Don't look now, but the South Florida Bulls are the hottest team in the south. USF's two season-opening wins over Boise State and Florida mark the most impressive fortnight's debut of any FBS program.

South Florida will try to complete a trifecta of state-rivalry wins when the USF Bulls visit the Miami Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. EST. Miami defeated USF 50-15 at Hard Rock Stadium last autumn.

Las Vegas is not taking South Florida's No. 18 rank seriously enough to raise betting prices on the Bulls. Sportsbooks are taking (-16.5) from Miami, daring USF to defy the odds for a third consecutive week.

Spread

  • Bulls +17.5 (-107)
  • Hurricanes -17.5 (-111)

Moneyline

  • Bulls +611
  • Hurricanes -711

Total

  • Over 56 (-111)
  • Under 56 (-102)

The above data was collected on Sept. 12, 2025, and may have changed since writing.

  • South Florida has won two straight games as at least a 5-to-1 underdog.
  • The Miami Hurricanes have won six of their last seven against USF.
  • Miami is on an eight-game winning streak in home games.

USF Bulls at Miami Hurricanes Predictions and Picks

Peter Dewey of Sports Illustrated thinks that South Florida's run defense will help to produce a cover ATS for Saturday's visiting upstart. USF “has relied on its defense, allowing just 3.7 yards per carry,” Dewey argues, concluding that “South Florida has been undervalued.”

If Miami's blue-chip QB Carson Beck isn't operating in 2nd down and short, his prodigious numbers from the first two games could be brought down to Earth. But we're just as interested in whether Miami's run defense can keep the Bulls in three-and-out scenarios often enough for the Hurricanes to produce a blowout. Notre Dame averaged a healthy YPC versus Miami despite turning to its passing game.

It's like this spring's NBA playoffs, when the odds kept giving underdogs too many points, and the ‘dogs just kept barking. Look for the South Florida Bulls to cover an inflated point spread at Miami.
